Disease Surveillance

TMC participates in the GeoSentinel Surveillance Network of Travel Medicine clinics worldwide who provide information into a central database to document diseases in immigrants, refugees, and returning travelers. This database is shared with various government agencies, namely the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to provide timely information regarding disease outbreaks and resistance patterns. The highly publicized SARS outbreak was first brought to the attention of the authorities by GeoSentinel.
